Glassy Carbon Electrode Modified with Safranin-Functionalized Carbon Nanotubes for Electrocatalytic Determination of Nitric Oxide

Abstract

In this work, a new chemically modified glassy carbon electrode was developed using multi - walled carbon nanotubes covalently immobilized with safranin o. The immobilization of safranin o with multi - walled carbon nanotubes was characterized by UV–visible absorption spectroscopy and cyclic voltammetry. The cyclic voltammetric response of safranin o as a redox mediator grafted onto multi - walled carbon nanotubes indicated that it promotes the electrocatalytic determination of nitric oxide. After optimization of paremeters, the procedure was applied to determination of nitric oxide in water samples.
